Arcos, Animas & Quimixto

What is this about?

South of Puerto Vallarta are Las Animas and Quimixto, two typical fishing villages that retain their charm and can only be reached by boat. Just before arriving, there are the iconic Los Arcos de Mismaloya, a protected area where visitors can practice snorkeling to observe a huge variety of marine species.
When arriving at Los Arcos de Mismaloya, our passengers can submerge to the sea to practice snorkeling and to be able to appreciate a great amount of colorful fishes. We will be there about 30 minutes. After this activity, two groups are formed: those that remain in Las Ánimas and those that go to Quimixto.
While people who go to Quimixto will have the opportunity to visit the town and a waterfall that can be reached on foot or on horseback(Horse not included in the price) hose who stay in Las Animas can enjoy up to three hours of sand, sea and excellent restaurant service*.
On the way back from Quimixto, the people who stayed at Las Ánimas will board the boat to start enjoying the domestic open bar and we will wait for those who went to the waterfall to have their lunch and together to return to Puerto Vallarta (during the trip,there will be games, raffles, dances and a great party atmosphere).

  Jose Manuel Peña , , May 8, 2017 La llegada y el abordaje: bien, sin contratiempos. Los Arcos: dicen que dura media hora el snorkel, no traía reloj, pero dudo que haya durado media hora, tal vez desde que la primer persona se tiró al agua hasta que subió la última al barco (porque se hace un cuello de botella, casi 80 personas en el agua y una sola escalera) transcurren 30 minutos, pero no son efectivos en el agua. No te apoyan en cómo ponerte el chaleco para que puedas hacer el snorkel mejor, nosotros estábamos en el segundo nivel del barco y fue ponernos el chaleco como cualquier persona se lo pondría, pero es muy incómodo de esta manera para el snorkel, ya que el chaleco se subía al cuello y estás más al pendiente de que no te moleste en lugar de disfrutar. En ningún momento nos explicaron una mejor manera de colocarlo. Las Ánimas: una playa sin mucha gracia, muchas lanchas, mucha gente en muy poco espacio. No hay mucho que ofrecer. Quimixto: no tengo idea, no fuimos porque teníamos que escoger, y tuvimos que escoger las Ánimas; muy engañoso el tour, al decir que son los 3 lugares, cuando en realidad tienes que escoger. Si vas a Quimixto, regresas a las Ánimas sólo para comer en media hora, no para estar en la playa. Si te quedas en las Ánimas, tienes que sacrificar ir a Quimixto. En verdad muy engañoso, en la primera opción sí "visitas" los 3 puntos, pero de manera muy engañosa. Si esto lo indicaran al principio, uno pensaría dos veces antes de escoger este tour y mejor pagar más por uno más privado. Si avisaran al menos, uno se puede preparar para llevar algo de comer y si tiene hambre al ir a Quimixto puede comer en el camino. Porque yo le pregunté a uno de la tripulación (el del micrófono) y me dijo que en Quimixto no hay donde comer, ni tiendas donde comprar comidas, aunque sean lonches. La comida: rica y económica. Suficiente para un tour de este tipo. El regreso: malísima logística. Desde que empezamos a abordar (los que no fuimos a Quimixto) pasaron casi 40 minutos antes de que empezaramos el regreso. Es tiempo desaprovechado en un tour. La verdad no recomiendo en absoluto este tour, inviertan mejor su dinero en un tour con menos gente.

  Mariann Swank Springville , Utah, United States Jul 22, 2017 First of all, there was no coordination about this trip. Ticket said 9:30 we didn't leave till at least 10:00, of course constant comments about "Mexican minutes." Granted this is in Mexico, but this is a huge tourist part of Mexico and the boat host made it clear that he didn't care to speak in English although he tried every now and then. Boat ride was not good, packed hundreds of people onto a double deck boat/ferry in very cheap plastic chairs which undoubtedly some people broke on the way back on the "rough seas." Snorkeling was complete chaos, giving probably a hundred or so people one way on and one way off the boat and only 20-30 minutes to do it. Then they take you to a beach to either do activities or just sit on the beach with no direction only saying they'll be back in a couple hours to pick you up. So overall, I wouldn't do it again nor would I recommend it. Only reason there are 3 stars is for some reason I can't change it any lower. I'd give it 1 star, for the sight seeing only.
